Spend a day in the woods learning to find, identify and prepare edible plants, seeds, nuts, flowers and fungi that grow wild in the British countryside.
Your tutors for the day will be Taste the Wild founders Chris and Rose Bax. They have decades of foraging experience between them and set up Taste the wild 15 years ago!
Our one day foraging course will give you a fascinating insight into the best wildfoods of the season. You will spend a fun and informative day in the woods learning to find and identify edible plants, seeds, nuts, flowers and fungi that grow wild in the British countryside.
Early June is Chris’s favourite time of year to forage and so we have picked this date to run the course.
The one day foraging course includes hot drinks and biscuits and a lunch based around wild ingredients. The lunch will be cooked over an open fire and you can bake your own flatbread in our wood fired earth oven. (Please mention any special dietary requirements on your booking form).
Preserving wild foods is a great way to extend the seasons and a vital part of the foragers year. During the day you will have a tasting session with expert preserver Rose and you can try our homemade cordials, liqueurs, vinegars, flavoured salts, jams and jellies – to name but a few!
Come and join us for a day in the woods learning to find, identify and prepare some of the amazing edible plants and wild foods that grow wild in our countryside.
We are strong advocates of responsible and sustainable foraging techniques. We will show you how to collect your wild edibles in a way that will have minimum impact on the landscape.
We will also teach you about the legalities of foraging and how, where and when you can forage for food, whilst keeping on the right side of the law.
The venue for this course is our own private 18 acre woodland in North Yorkshire, which is situated 5 Miles from the market town of Boroughbridge.
