Learn how to plan and build your own earth oven, from the importance of the dimensions to the mix of the cob. On this course we will build an earth oven in the woods and cook pizza in an existing oven in the barn.
This course will teach you how to build a cob oven from scratch. These amazing ovens cook delicious Pizza and so much more besides. Meat, bread, cakes and even meringues! A perfect addition to an outdoor cooking and eating area, either at home in the garden or as part of a community project. During the day we will look at all aspects of oven building from selecting your raw materials and mixing your cob through to the first firing. The course is a hands on experience and we will construct an oven together on the day so you can see and experience the different processes in action. The day involves treading the cob and building with it, so old boots or wellies is a good idea and old clothes!
We will also be cooking our lunch using the existing earth oven on site so that you can experience first hand, how to light and fire an oven and cook in it.
The oven building course includes hot drinks and biscuits and we make homemade pizza at lunch time. (Please mention any special dietary requirements on your booking form).
A fun day in the woods, mixing cob, drinking tea, building an oven and eating pizza … and the confidence and knowledge you need to build your own oven at home.
You will also receive course notes with the ‘all important’ oven dimensions and notes on making perfect cob.
