This one day course is an introduction in to the world of wild medicinal plants. Medical Herbalist Sarah Hughes teaches some great wild first aid and how to use wild plants to maintain a healthy body too.
This course will show you how to identify and use over 30 wild plants that grow in our woods and hedgerows. The day involves short walks around the woodland and talks about the medicinal plants we find. The course has two aspects: the first aid side shows us plants that are pain killers, Plants for stings, even a plant that cures a nose bleed! In the barn we will make a poultice for a wound from leaves that we collect.
The other aspect is the use of wild plants in your daily life from natural sleep remedies to immunity boosters, there are so many health benefits to learn about. During the day there will be demonstrations and some hands on experience making herbal remedies, there will be detox drinks and teas for you to taste and a herbal ointment and a hair tonic for you to take home.
The day is held in our private woodland, there will be hot drinks supplied and a light lunch of wild greens soup and herb bread. Please dress for the outdoors.
We teach sustainable foraging techniques that have little impact on the landscape, and about the legalities of foraging and how to keep on the right side of the law.
The course will be held at our own private wood near Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire. Directions will be sent to you on booking. Please dress for the weather and wear suitable outdoor shoes.

"Had a great day yesterday. Many thanks. Shall want to book on other courses next year if any vacancies exist! When is it possible to book? Would be particularly keen to do the coastal foraging and another foraging in the autumn time.Best wishes. You've got a great thing going. I shall be recommending you to many others!"
"Hi Chris, I hope you have recovered from last week and got back ok on Thursday. Many thanks to you for the foraging element of the treasure hunt – it was so refreshing to have a new aspect to the TH and our main client said it was his favourite element of the afternoon. It was great working with you and nothing seemed to be a problem!Boden we’re extremely happy with the event and called it a ‘triumph’. We’re looking forward to hopefully working with you in the near future."
"Just to say a big thank you for last weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed the course, your hospitality and the company of all of your other guests. What a great bunch of people and how easy it was to get on with everyone. In particular I felt I'd known the two of you for ages."
