On this course Rose will introduce you to the fantastic array of wild plants that can help your hair and skin. You will make natural skin and hair products using extracts from wild flowers, leaves and roots.
We have designed this course to show you how our lovely wild plants can be used to benefit your skin and hair. There are folk traditions going back centuries of using herbs for healing and beauty and this course combines old knowledge with modern ingredients to create some lovely bathroom products. There are plants to help with wrinkles and some that help with eczema. Some strengthen hair, some encourage it to grow. The beauty of this course is that you can choose the wild ingredients that are perfect for your own hair and skin or for loved ones who need something special.
Rose will explain how to collect and dry your own herbs and the different ways to make infused oils and hydrolats. You can choose your own herbs and flowers to make your own personalised shampoo, there will be healing balm to make and lip balm too.
After hot drinks we will make bath bombs and bath salts, these can be for relaxation, stimulation, aches and pains or to aid sleep. All your personalised bathroom products are presented in pretty blue ‘Love the Wild’ packaging.
No previous knowledge or experience needed. Please bring an apron.
The course is held in our own working kitchen near Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire.
You will make your own:
We are strong advocates of sustainable foraging and Rose will talk about collecting wild herbs responsibly and keeping on the right side of the law.
Personal safety is also very important and advice will be given on using certain essential oils or potent wild plants in skin and hair products.
Course materials, herbal plant guide sheets and recipe sheets are provided for each student as well as tea, coffee and biscuits. Full directions are given when you book.
"Thanks ever so much for a really enjoyable day on Saturday. Really learnt a lot and also thoroughly enjoyed the day. Well balanced and very informative and very much hands on as well. Excellent!"
"Had a great day yesterday. Many thanks. Shall want to book on other courses next year if any vacancies exist! When is it possible to book? Would be particularly keen to do the coastal foraging and another foraging in the autumn time. Best wishes. You've got a great thing going. I shall be recommending you to many others!"
"Hi Chris, I hope you have recovered from last week and got back ok on Thursday. Many thanks to you for the foraging element of the treasure hunt – it was so refreshing to have a new aspect to the TH and our main client said it was his favourite element of the afternoon. It was great working with you and nothing seemed to be a problem! Boden we’re extremely happy with the event and called it a ‘triumph’. We’re looking forward to hopefully working with you in the near future."
"Just to say a big thank you for last weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed the course, your hospitality and the company of all of your other guests. What a great bunch of people and how easy it was to get on with everyone. In particular I felt I'd known the two of you for ages."
